Ruan Swart

Born 26 November 2004

A Blue Bulls junior who crossed the Jukskei. Swart was in the first Junior Springbok squad ever named for an Under-20 Rugby Championship, in 2024, alongside two men now in the same Lions front five — Asad Moos and Siba Mahashe. He played five Currie Cup matches for the Bulls in 2025 before moving north, and wore 18 on the Lions bench for both the 2026 Currie Cup opener in Bloemfontein and the following week's match against the Pumas at Ellis Park. Note for readers: there are four players named Ruan in this squad — Swart, Delport, Venter and Welman.
