Two metres and ten centimetres, and a Lions player for the second time eleven years after the first. Du Preez made a single Super Rugby appearance for the club in February 2015, then went to the Free State Cheetahs, then to Sale Sharks for two seasons, then to Glasgow Warriors for three, then to Japan. A serious knee injury cost him the better part of two of those years. He returned in July 2026 as cover in a second row that had lost Darrien Landsberg to Exeter. A Falcons and Golden Lions junior who never played age-group rugby for South Africa, he is the tallest man in the squad by a distance.
