Morne Venter

Born 8 March 2005

1.97m

A lock the Lions twice started at No. 8 during the 2026 Currie Cup, against the Bulls and against Griquas — a conversion that tells you what the coaches think of his hands and his engine rather than just his height. Venter came through the club's own system rather than from anywhere else, and was a Junior Springbok at the 2025 World Rugby Under-20 Championship in Italy. Four Currie Cup matches and a try in 2026. Note for readers: there are two players named Morné in this squad, Venter and Brandon the hooker, and three Venters — Morné, Boan and Ruan.
