The senior statesman of the front row. Full name Juan Louw Schoeman, with a career spanning more than a decade including a stint with Bath in the English Premiership — northern hemisphere experience that becomes directly relevant as the Lions enter the Champions Cup. At thirty-four he is the reference point for a loosehead group containing Heiko Pohlmann, SJ Kotze and Stian de Bruyn, and his scrummaging expertise sets the technical standard.
